Food Poisoning or Food Born Illness (Food poisoning symptoms, Causes of food poisoning, Tips how to minimize food poisoning risk, Precaution)2020.

Definition:

Illness caused by the infection with microorganisms and ingestion of toxins produced, and chemical poisoning.

                                                                                 OR

An acute gastrointestinal disorder caused by bacteria or their toxic products or by chemical residue in food.

  • Foods contaminated with pathogenic microorganisms usually do not look bad,or smell bad.
  • It is impossible to determine whether a food is contaminated with pathogens microorganisms without microbiological testing.
  • Food poisoning may life-threatening.

Food Poisoning How Long:

If you have food poisoning, symptoms may vary from as little as 1 hours long as 28 days.

 Food Poisoning Symptoms:              

  • Abdominal cramps.    
  • Diarrhea.
  • Vomiting.
  • Loss of appetite
  • Mild Fever.
  • Weakness.
  • Nausea.
  • Headaches.

Causes food poisoning

Three major causes:


  • Food Poisoning Bacteria:

                            E.coli, listeria, salmonella & c. botulinum.


  • Food Poisoning viruses:


                            Norovirus ,rotavirus and astrovirus.

  • Food Poisoning Parasites:

                           Toxoplasma

TIPS: How  to minimize food poisoning risk.

  • Wash your hands thoroughly  with soap and warm water at least 20 sec, before and after handling foods, after using the bathroom, changing nappy, before and after treating wounds, before and after caring someone who is sick with vomiting or diarrhea, before eating, after touching garbage etc.
  • if you have a skin infection like impetigo(staphylococcus bacteria)don't prepare food for others .
  • Keep different type of food separate during preparation and storage.
  • Use separate cutting board and knife for raw and cooked food.
  • When reheating food, cook it thoroughly enough that the core reaches at least 75℃.check it with thermometer.
  • Be aware when you handling fishmeatpoultryeggs and dairy ,check products internal core temperature should reach 75℃.
  • Do not thaw food at room temperature-put them in the refrigerator or frozen condition.
  • Keep cold foods at cool temperature and hot food at hot temperature.
  • Don't let kids lick the spoon if raw eggs are an ingredient.

You should avoid following foods when you suffering from food poisoning

  • Fruit juices
  • Nicotine
  • Fatty foods.
  • Fried foods.
  • Spicy food.
  • Caffeine.
  • Alcohol.
  • Dairy products.
